The Central Government has approved a massive ₹10,000 crore infrastructure package for Uttar Pradesh, focusing on expressways, industrial corridors, and rural connectivity. The move comes at a crucial time as the state gears up for the 2026 Assembly elections.

Officials stated that funds will be allocated toward the completion of ongoing expressway projects, development of logistics parks, and modernization of district-level road networks. Special priority will be given to industrial zones in Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, and Noida.

The government also announced a new plan to accelerate rural infrastructure through upgraded healthcare centers, digital classrooms, and improved water supply systems in over 50 districts. Political analysts believe the package will significantly influence voter sentiment in key constituencies.

Opposition parties criticized the timing of the announcement, calling it an “election-driven move,” while the ruling party maintains that the development agenda remains its top priority. The funding rollout is expected to begin later this year.
